'But buying USED doesn't help Ayre's bottom line.Yes and no. I was at Audio Research a few years ago talking to their sales manager. He told me they think that perhaps 75% of ARC users bought the gear used and they feel this drives new sales. If you have an ARC amp and cannot sell to buy a new ARC amp it is unlikely you will purchase the new amp. Used sales do drive new sales. Look at cars as an example. Want a new Caddy you need to sell the old Caddy. No used market no new sales.
'I can tell you factually that my salary has not kept up with the price hikes on high-end gear!'
That is the case with virtually everyone in the middle class. Adjusted for inflation we are no better off then we were 20 years ago.
