Same here but I also buy USED because the price of most well established American brands have skyrocketed. Buying USED does not help foster a healthy market for audio manufacturers... but there are some incredible bargains to be had. Since Charles has chimed in, I'll use the Ayre AX-7e integrated as a prime example. I bought mine used. There are a few others available today on Audiogon. These are outstanding integrated amps at those USED prices. But buying USED doesn't help Ayre's bottom line.
I did a high-end audio gear comparison against cumulative inflation over the years but even if that is an incorrect comparison, I can tell you factually that my salary has not kept up with the price hikes on high-end gear!
