Try Magnan cables for example. They sound unbelievably bad at the beginning. Thin, constipated, grainy, upper midrange emphasis and glare, the lot. They sound sooo bad when new its almost impossible to believe that they'll ever come right. But they do, and how.
With proper conditioning of around 100 hours carrying a signal, these become some of the most evenly balanced, delicate and transparent cables around.
I've also noticed that with many products, the initial impression will be very positive but after some short time this positive reaction turns to neuroses as you begin to notice more and more anomalies. At first I thought I must have overlooked the shortcomings (hard to believe as some were so blatant) but further observation has lead me to believe that components seem to deteriorate during 'burn-in' then once more gain their composure, neutrality then finally beauty after a substantial time.
