The Mailboxes Etc in my community used to charge about DOUBLE what the UPS customer counter would charge me. This Mailboxes Etc recently became The UPS Store which is a franchise. In my case The UPS Store is now more inline with the pricing I get from the big UPS center customer counter 12 miles away. The UPS Store is still *slightly* more expensive by a couple dollars but not ridiculously more like Mailboxes Etc. For the couple extra dollars it's worth it for me since they're literally around the block from my house instead of 12 miles away in traffic.
Will I trust them to carefully package my goods? No. I double box my items at home then bring them to The UPS Store for shipping. I use a different packaging / shipping outfit for large heavy items that might require that injected foam padding and/or special crating.
