Soft Machine "Six", one of my favorite albums while in college and one of my favorite album covers.
The story:
I first heard music from this album, the song "The Soft Weed Factor", while waiting for my college English class to start. The name of the University of Texas English Course was "Twentieth Century Literature and the Electronic Media". This was in the mid Seventies.
The course was taught in the multi-media Academic Center lecture hall/auditorium (known as AC 21) and was infamous for the once a semester lecture on pornography where porn images and film were projected into all 3 screens while the Prof conducted his lecture. On that one day of the semester, the auditorium was always packed and, of course, also included students that were not registered for the class.
The Prof always had music playing before he started his lectures. Some of the music that was played included the Velvet Underground, John Cale, the New York Dolls, and Soft Machine.
