Re: The problem with Hi-Fi dealers (long)

I have had similar bad experiences in the SF Bay area. Sound Perfection, Century, Audible Difference, and another one in San Carlos. Eventually, SF Stereo turned out to be my favorite and I have bought a lot of stuff since then as have a few friends. It was pretty inconvenient at first since SF was a long way to go but they just opened a new store in Mountain View. They seem to know their stuff and have a wide range. I went in with shorts and a tshirt a lot before I ever bought anything and never had a problem.

I felt ignored at a lot of places and felt strange about places that were inflexible about demo stuff. In Silicon Valley it would seem that a person in jeans/shorts and a tshirt os the last person to ignore. However, there are a also a lot of people who scoff at good sound (MP3 sounds great! not) and it is tricky trying to figure that out.

I am a happy customer and once you are regular they are even better and getting demos at home has not been a problem.
