The deal with the appointments I think is primarilly to make sure someone is there and looking out for you.
The Ultimate Stereo shop is actually a front-end to his manufacturing business for VibraPods and the like.
'Twould be a shame to travel all the way there (I come from Illinois to visit) to have Sam in the back tweaking that part of the business.
Likewise, it helps to have a call to make sure someone is there and that you can find the place, since it is in an industrial park type area with a 'buzz-box' at the door.
Don't be put off by the 'appointment' deal and you will be rewarded with a gracious host, who I don't think would want to give you less than his best.
