Re: Another prespective

If Internet sales are booming, and I don't say they aren't, what's the purpose of seeking a home trial or even an in-store demo? If it's easier, cheaper and more pleasant to purchase via the Internet, why bother going to a store at all? If the people who hate audio dealers
would pick up a copy of Stereophile's Recommended Components and burn bandwidth looking for private deals on some of the 700 components described therein, they could save the hassle of being ignored or insulted by a salesman. However, if the purpose in seeking a dealer loan or in-store demo is to figure out what to buy online, I think that's unfair and an abuse of people who are trying to earn their daily bread in the retail end of the hi-fi business, most of whom are by no means getting rich at it.
