Wait til you meet some fake friendly dealers. They are more cunning and after you get burned by them it hurts even worse.For five months Brand X let me listen to their line with the seeming openess and generosity of an old friend.
They won't push their speakers on to me, their saleman tells me every day, because "they're manufacturers not salesmen". Then when it came time for me to seriously consider buying what would otherwise be components not even worth's anybody's time in auditioning for more than a day, just cos they were so *nice* to me...shit happens:
"We can't let you home trial without a full payment deposit."
Which was perfectly reasonable, to be fair.
"Can you run the pair in for me before you arrange to send them over?"
"Sure!"
Three days later I asked if they had began to run them in. No, they had to run in (*Model Costing Much Bigger Bucks*). Was it for another customer? "No".
Can you bring the speakers over anytime this week?
"Not this week, we're too busy." This was after they said they could do it anytime..."Next week?"
"I ll have to check with Mr. Brand X(big time manufacturer)."
"Thanks!"
"That's okay, we're friends...you see we never treat customers like other shops do. We never lie, we never backstab. Customers are our friends."
See mr. big boss some time later. He tells us we have to pay for transportation on top of full payment.
"No problem!" I said."I even offered to buy (salesman_ _ _ )dinner!"
"But we don't really allow home demos. Too much trouble. Too busy to send them to your place. Write us a cheque with the full amount and you can carry them home yourself".
"But what if we damage them or..."
*Snigger*
"I don't CARE if you damage them! It's better for me! IF YOU DAMAGE THEM YOU OWN THEM..SAVES ME THE TROUBLE!" HAHA! What a humanitarian.Next time I visit the shop I must remember to buy these guys a drink for being such great pals.
