Wait a minute here. The amount of $$ on a purchase is less than a vehicle or a major home renovation, but it sure ranks up there. The dealer probably makes more than on a typical car purchase even. So we do our homework, but the salespeople don't. Sure, dealing with clueless people is always time-consuming. I'm sure most of us don't listen to stuff we aren't particularly interested in, unless it's offered. If the salespeople aren't helping, and are often hurting, what are they there for, and why are we paying for them? The polite way to get rid of a problem customer is to refer them to somebody else. Happens all the time. Just some disjointed points. I also see internet sales are booming. Can't be any connection.
