Im one of the unfortunate audiophiles who happens to be 19 years old. I have never been able to get service at any audio dealer (except one, which is now where I buy my gear) because the instant I walk through the door, the sales droids just look at me and continue chatting. They figure I wont spend anything. When I finally do ask someone, they tell me they wont have anything I could afford. Which is bullshit cause I have been in the store before and seen some equipment I was considering. They wouldnt help me cause I was just a stupid teenager in shorts and a teeshirt.Thats ok, the other dealer down the street was a much nicer guy and ended up with a couple thousand of my VERY hard earned dollars. He was willing to give me a slight discount on very popular gear and in general gave me a sense of the fact that he cares about his customers.
I guess the trick is to find the nice dealers...but to do that you gotta deal with the crappy ones.
