Jeez, I thought the UK had stuffy sales assistants..
Here is a happy story. I have no connection with any of the following people except being a regular customer. In the UK [and some abroad], we have Richer Sounds. It is currently trading as a low to mid price dealer although they did try more exotic gear a while back. Staff however, are clued up, they have demo rooms, they only sell hifi at good prices. They also do superb £10 extended warranties with features like 1/2 price buyback of old kit. If I wanted a new cassette deck etc. I would never go anywhere else. Anyway a while back I bought a Marantz amp at a rock bottom end of line price. The amp was a well reviewed model but I didn't demo it [silly me]. When I got it home it was not as good as the Pioneer A400 it was to replace. I rang the shop and explained, they said no problem, sorry we sold you unsuitable kit[!] I returned it, they said "your still in our prize draw". A week or so later I get a very genuine letter from the company MD [handsigned] asking if there was anything they could do to improve their service and would I continue to be a customer? It's a shame you can't get these people to run all sales outlets
