how do you know the SET had a lot of distortion? Most do, but only when they're driven beyond a certain point. How do you know it was past that point? Also, the tubes commonly used in SET, 45,2A3, and 300B, are some of the most linear there are- of any type of amplification. Doesn't that qualify them more as SWG, as you call it, than anything else? especially when a circuit is kept extremely simple?
