My recent experience with a new outboard clock

Last year I got an aftermarket clock and have had some problems with my player (transport and laser) ever since. Every time I had gotten my player back from the most recent fix my system sounded unbelievable, then after some time it would settle in and sound just very good. I wrongly attributed the changes to me getting accustomed to the sound or sinus issues.

Two weeks ago I shut off the system entirely after I heard a weird sound when I turned my Steradian knob (low frequency eq), so I shut everything off until I could come to the realization that something else had broken, namely the Steradian. This past Friday I turned it all back on an hour before happy hour and held my breath. After a properly chilled martini was served it was all or nothing. Wow, the magic was back. And in spades. It remained so for the rest of the weekend. All is powered off now and I will see if I get the same results this weekend. If I do at minimum I will power cycle them all prior to my Friday night happy hours. Amps are always turned off at the end of the weekend.

As I have everything floating as I had system hum, I have to wonder if something was floating above ground thus causing that noise two weeks ago and having overall adverse effects on the resultant sound. Time will tell. All I have to say is that experimentation with such components may be worth your time too for the same reasons.
