Two models to mod:
-A pair of Magnepan 3.6's. All sorts of things you can do to make these fantastic speakers sound even better.
-A pair of "white van" speakers. How much money would YOU spend to mod these? :)
I'm taking this to the extreme, but the idea is there. Why spend money on something that doesn't sound good in the first place?
That said, I do recall a few years ago some companies modding "cheap" CD players and supposedly ending up with something good (never personally heard any).
