The good news is that the Vandy's don't need a lot of wattage in an average sized room, so you can look at modestly priced integrated amps and still get plenty of dynamic impact from your speakers. Check out the amplifier forum for comments and reviews of integrated amps from companies like NAD, Rotel, Arcam, Jolida, Rega, Creek and others.I see your biggest problem in the player. There are very few affordable SACD and DVD-A combo players. The least expensive I know of is the Pioneer Elite DV-45. Do a search on this site and you will see mixed reviews of this player. Also check AudioReview.com for user reviews. I also believe Dennon is soon to announce an affordable universal player.
If you can forgo DVD-Audio for now, consider the Sony DVP-NS755, a CD/DVD(video)/SACD player that is inexpensive (under $250) and well liked by many on this board. This sounds like a good "bang for the buck" piece. You can pick this player up at Circuit City and return it if you're not happy.
