Yes, the description is pretty much on the money. 816's could sub for the 866's (original plan was to have interchangable cap leads but didnt'work out that way) in the circuit but I have more and more interesting 866s to play with so we just went with those. VV45 is the input/driver tube, though its' choke input and driving through an IT. 83 does rectify the vv45 (which could be any vintage 45 too if desired), I have WE 301-A's in there for the 83's at the moment. Power about 20 watts is accurate - 845s are at about 1000v. Cathode (?) self bias I believe. (originally was going to be fixed (adjustable) bias, hence the meters).
I'd like to hear the 2A3 versions sometime - those I bet are quite nice, I needed more power than that myself, plus I love the 845 tube so it seemed like a natural fit. Hopefully I Can hear the Ben's and other Cain&Cain stuff at CES/THE this year. I think they (and a few others?) are sharing a room....
