I still play the 30 year old Alvarez Yairi, the tone is so deep and mellow. I love the tone of an old Martin dreadnought or Gibson Dove. New guitars seldom match the tone of vintage. I played an old Gibson SG through a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier a while back and that was really sweet and crunchy. My chops suck right now because I had carpal tunnel surgery a few years ago and I'm a little reluctant to worsen things. It's good to see inmates who play as well as listen. I'd much rather play than listen if I had to choose. My son is in a band and the outlay for equipment is pretty outrageous.
