How To Get Off The Merry-Go-Round

I've been buying / selling audio reproduction equipment since 1968. An I've always wondered if I'd ever be satisfied. Yes, I've bought $1000 cables. I've owned 6 different power amps since 1998. After going through several pre-amps, I finally settled on a Sonic Frontiers Line 2 tubed preamp. I won't even talk about how much I've spent on CD reproduction equipment.

I'm afraid to ask my Quicken what the total tab is for the last 5 years.

I finally figured out how to get off the merry go 'round!!

LEARN HOW TO PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

I've been taking guitar lessons for the last two years, and you know what? I have not purchased a single piece in over a year!! I'm actually satisfied with what I've got right now. In fact, I've recently heard lesser systems which I like. I think I know why. I now know what music really sounds like, so I'm not setting impossible goals for my reproduction equipment.

Music instruments are a LOT cheaper than high end gear. For example, a top-of-the-line Martin guitar runs about $3K - $4K, and a large selection of high quality guitars are available for under $2K. Picks are about 25 cents. There are lots a starving musicians willing and able to give lessons for $20 / hour.

If you want off, give it a try!!!
