Re: How easy is it to get music on vinyl?

Hi Ozzy -- I wouldn't say that my taste is "limited" to only things that are not available on vinyl, given that I have over 2500 CDs ranging from Palestrina to Skinny Puppy and from Bill Monroe to Aksak Maboul. However, I do tend to listen to a lot of progressive and experimental music, much of which is now being reissued (and remastered) on CD. Also, there are a HUGE number of new remasters of classic progressive music from the 70's coming out now (e.g., Henry Cow's "Unrest", the Focus back catalog, and even prog classics like Gentle Giant's "Octopus" and Yes's "Relayer"). Since I have been buying about 50 CDs a month for the last few years, I don't really relish the prospect of having to track down the music that I like on vinyl. I guess my point is that the statement that there is "so much music that is only available on vinyl" could be countered by the equally valid statement that there is "so much music that is only available on CD"! Good listening -- Dave

PS. I do wish I had held onto my LP version of Jan Hammer's "First Seven Days", though :-(
