$60 is a good price if they are =C= tubes. FWIW, I have bought quite a few tubes, =C= EL-34 and others, from The Tubestore.com and have been impressed by their prompt shipment and service. If you buy a quad, they will all be matched perfectly. No affiliation.I think you'll like the RCA 7199's. Strangely enough, I didn't like them before I rebuilt my Stereo 70, preferring NOS Sylvania's instead. After the rebuild the RCA's sound much more fluid and warm. I'm not sure what changed but since Joe's cap board was the only major difference it must have something to do with that.
I could be wrong, but I think the older Svetlana tubes and the new SED's are the same tubes, made in St. Petersburg, Russia. However, the Svetlana name is not used on these tubes in the U.S.
A company called New Sensor owns the U.S. rights to the Svetlana name and markets Svetlana tubes in the U.S. but I don't know where their tubes are made.
