I used a Foreplay II with my Stereo 70's until I replaced it with the Foreplay III....BIG improvement, even with no mods to the FP III. In fact, I like the FP/ST-70 combo so well that my Paramours have been idle for months.The FP II's volume pots are a bit racy, but it never bothered me too much. I tried one of the input padding mods at one point but I thought the sound changed for the worse so I removed it. It’s been a long time ago so I don’t remember exactly what pad scheme it was.
When I restored my Stereo 70, I used Curcio's restoration driver board, which is pretty much identical to the original. I did re-install the 470k resistors from hot to ground on the RCA inputs. I think maybe Curcio's upgrade board does not require them. Which driver board are you using?
