I thought about doing this mod with my recent Stereo 70 rebuild but decided against it for a couple of reasons:
1. Having to find a location for the additional pots, i.e. butchering the chassis.
2. I didn't see any real value in the ability to run unmatched tubes since excellent matched pairs and quads are readily available.
OK, three reasonsâ€¦
3. I had never seen anyone comment that it improved the sound by doing the mod.
I don't quite understand the negative effect on the sound though. I know just enough about this amp to be dangerous, as the saying goes. ;)
