You know, I had the N804s in my system, and my 308T sounded great even while tube rolling. Later I bought a pair of used Merlin TSM-Ms with Osiris stands on Audiogon for an alternative speaker system.
While setting up the Merlins for the first time to check them out, I decided to sell the N804s on Audiogon after listening to two songs while working on speaker placement. I never thought the B&Ws were anything but great until I heard the Merlins who totally outclassed them in every way except bass, and they were close there too. You have a nice system. Maybe it's the CD player IC. Try a Luminous Synchestra Signature IC. Look them up in "Reviews" and do a search on the "cable" forum.
