"Still missing out on the fact that the transform of the step in the time domain (as output by a practical ZOH DAC) is the Sinc function in the frequency domain."No sh!t....
But why in the heck would anyone design a DAC that puts out a "sinc" function in the **frequency** domain?? Do you realize that would be a DAC whose **frequency** response curve looks like (half) a "sinc" function??? (Except I have never seen a frequency response curve go negative. The "sinc" function does go negative.) The "sinc" function in audio DACs applies to **time** domain, not the **frequency** domain!!!
Not to mention a DAC that would convolve a "step" function in the **time** domain would have to be designed with an IIR filter... Aside from those first Sony players with analog brickwall filters, I do not recall a Redbook DAC designed with an IIR filter.
"Which is a very interesting thing in that it tells us, and should tell yourself, that you have remarkable large holes in your knowledge of signal theory. Holes large enough to sit back and reconsider a thing or two."
What motivates you to say something like that?? Especially when it follows such a **nonsensical** comment?? It is bad enough when people make such remarks after making *valid* comments!!
