I'd leave them on 24 hours a day for the first few weeks, and play 2-4 hours of cds a day on your Teac, before freaking out too much.Next, I'd really test your Line Input on your vintage amp before changing equipment again - or, borrow a CD player that you think/know sounds good from a friend/shop, and try it in your system to eliminate your vintage amp's Line Input from the equation. Perhaps ANYTHING through that Input would sound restricted...
