Hello Marc,

The reason for poor performance could be any that you have mentioned. Both DACs and silver cables can take a very long time to fully run-in. So you may indeed be panicking prematurely, and the system may yet reveal the quality you seek.

BUT, if not:-

1) You purchased equipment and cables without first checking that they will suit your system, and that you will like the sounds presented?!

2) You did not ensure that one change was completed before making another?!

I am trying to comment tactfully, but am finding this difficult!

To say that your actions are not sensible is a considerable understatement. To blindly commit "significant" funds in this way I find beggars belief! And then to complain about the results of your actions!

I find sympathy for your situation a little hard to come by, since any damage seems to be so palpably self-inflicted!

I hope that you are lucky, and that the long-term situation is not as bad as you may fear. I also hope that you will not repeat 1) and 2) in the future (eg. with the Cyrus!).
