Re: forgot to mention that there is a DAC called a HAWK

Marbles,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have read quite a bit about most of the sub $1000 one-box CDP's. The Heart and nOrh both sound appealing but I am novice enough that I don't know if the "tube sound" will appeal to me without having the opportunity to hear it.

As far as a seperate DAC, I have not researched this at all (but I have noted their popularity). The fact that I am now using a borrowed DAC is simply because a friend had it in storage and allowed me to "play" with it. I was thankful for the opportunity because it has shown me that I can easily wring more performance from my system.

I guess the hunt is still on. I was tempted to hammer out a deal right now for the Theta, but John C and others are of the opinion that recent advances have left the Theta behind.

I'll do some research on the popular DACs and see where it leads.

Thanks,
Cutcom
