My Rotel RCD-1072 that's about eighteen years old has developed a problem, I think. I can turn it on, insert a disk, hit play, and after about two minutes the signal cuts out. This happens with both the analog outputs and the digital output. I'm assuming that the problem is happening before the built in Pacific Microsonics DAC, probably in the drive unit. Rotel no longer services or stocks parts for this CDP. There is an excellent service shop in a nearby KC suburb but they are never lacking for business so turnaround could be as long as three months. While I'm leaning towards simply replacing the unit with a new CDP or transport, I'd like to ask if anyone has a idea what the problem might be before I warm up the Visa card.
