Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Previous arrangement worked fine

What assumption of mine is incorrect?

Really? Ok. Let's take another look at part of the text I quoted:

Parts long gone.

"Parts long gone"? Chris at ARC didn't say that. There is a difference between continuing support of a product update and your extrapolation. I'm delighted they allowed me to use parts developed for and continue to be used by the DAC9. Other than specifics of the output stage, the biggest difference between the two is the newer version supports DSD. Like you, I've never been a real fan of it. 24 bit PCM works fine for me.

My point was to avoid buying older DACs that are around 10 years old or older if one wishes to play around with computer audio or network streamers.

Why is that? You've voiced the opinion on many occasions that "My Mac Mini setup sounds just as good as my microRendu or Raspberry Pi/DigiOne network streamers." The unit would work fine with a Mac Mini (using the provided driver) or RPi DigiOne as I've been using for five years in the garage system. Support for Linux is just one corner of the range of available digital inputs with which you can play around.

It's Christmas, Abe. It's the time of miracles so be of good cheer! :)
