If you are looking for a new CD/SACD player pickins' are slim at that price point. There is the Denon (DCD 1600NE) and Yamaha (CD S1000) at around $1500. Marantz has a newish player (SACD 30N) that lists for $3,000 but can be had open box/refurb for close to $2,500. I recently went with the Marantz SA-KI Ruby at around $4,000 (I bought open box, full warranty for a bit less) and it is superb. I use it as a disc player and a hi res DAC fed from my MB Pro and SB Touch streamer. It is a great player that does everything and is built like a tank. I would expect the 30N to be similar in build and sound, if not as refined. I have no experience with the others I mentioned above, but was considering them before I bought the Marantz.

Interstingly I was interested in getting a UBP-X1000ES for myself (I need the analog outputs) to play concert BR and DVD's, but it's now discontinued and doesn't have a replacement yet that I've seen.
