Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Gustard A18 DAC

So, after weeks and weeks of hesitation, I've finally settled for Gustard A18 to replace my SMSL SU-8.
The SU-8 is a great little DAC for the extremely low price but I still feel it's the weak point of my system.

I was really tempted to buy Denafrips Ares II but then, my musical taste being extremely eclectic with a lot of modern / electronic / techno music, I got scared (following certain reviews and comments) that maybe it might not the best DAC for the task.

Also, by looking around I've found one person stating that the A18 is as good as the Chord Qutest (that remains to be verified) and another one stating that the Gustard A18 is now his favorite DAC, followed by Denafrips Ares II as close second. Of course, those are very personal point of views, but I find it reassuring to see the A18 favorably compared with more famous references.

And last, I found a great deal on a brand new, never used A18, MQA version, with full guarantee from a guy in France and financially this ends up being half the price of the Denafrips Ares II after import taxes... so that was the final decisive factor.

I don't have the DAC yet, I guess it will take another week before it arrives here, but I'll make sure to post a review! I'm expecting great things.
