RE: Media Server: What's the Point?

Aside of the obvious comfort of use many streamers offer, it is now widely accepted that the old "digital is digital" saying is wrong!
Jitter, noise, clocking issues, all mess up with our digital signal.
Not later than yesterday I listened to two different CD players, connected trough the same coaxial cable into the same external DAC. In theory, it should sound identical; in fact, those two players sounded almost as different from one another as when used with their internal DAC.
I'm sure the same difference - most likely of a higher magnitude - exist between an audiophile streamer, and a computer...
