Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I can't hear any difference.

I have a Bryston BCD1 cd player that I've owned for 10 years and have
been quite happy with. I recently purchased a PSAudio GCD/preamp. I
decided I would pipe the digital output of the BCD1 thru the dac in the
GCD/preamp. The GCG has 11 inputs so I can switch back and forth between
the analog output of the Bryston and the analog output of the GCD/preamp.

So I did that with many different CDs. I can hear no difference. None.
Sometimes I think I prefer one, then I think I prefer the other.

The Bryston is about 10 years older than the PSAudio piece.

The only thing I can conclude is that Bryston did one hell of an engineering job on the BCD1. So Kudos to Bryston.

Kudos to PSAudio too for creating a great, inexpensive dac/preamp that
sounds quite fine.

Or could it be that my hearing is just shot ...
