Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Media Server: What's the Point?

I don't use bluetooth. (1 room, no remote speakers, & I'm worried about possible degradation of sound).
I run Mac> DAC> stereo.
I suppose that a $500 Bluesound Node2 streamer would allow me to attach my hard drive directly to the stereo, listen to quobuz and my library, and stop worrying about firewire, Apple legacy (iTunes and updates to hardware/software). The last time I updated my OS I had to replace 2 computers in MTL because iTunes updates => not hardware compatible.
I am not sure this is even MAC Compatible as far as iTunes goes.
On the other hand I have a very good DAC attached to my computer. And it works. And I don't care about remote control with tablet etc.

I just don't get it. What's the point of a streamer to me? ?better sound when I already have a DAC?
