Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: DAC suggestions wanted

Since digital is your secondary source, I would suggest you give a listen to the SMSL SU-8 (v2)
it costs less than 250$, has great specs, great measurements, and -to my ears and many other's) sounds great. Way above what could be expected in that price range.
It is a real symmetrical DAC, boasting 2 ESS9038 chips, has RCA and XLR outputs that can be used simultaneously, a complete remote control; it is small and well built and has an internal linear PSU with IEC connector, not the usual wallmart external that would come with DACs in that price range.
It is DSD compatible and hi-rez (I only use mine with rebook CD).
For the price it is absolutely stunning; there's better of course but since digital is secondary to you why spend more? For me, this little DAC is my main source, because I don't have a lot of budget and prefer to invest in upgrading my DIY speakers or other stuff; I'm tremendously happy with it (it does need a couple weeks of burn-in to really sound good tho).
