Some say past it. Nevertheless, existing disc players are pretty fine, and recent classics are still brilliant.There will always be hard drives/digital storage. At least for the foreseeable future. Personally, I'm enjoying CDs a while longer, especially as so many are keen to turf them out at silly prices - some rare and with hard to find recordings.
I'll get around to streaming at some point, in the main system. But I'm in no rush. Also, I make no judgement of who does what. I think you are well served by doing what's best for you, be that disc-spinning, streaming or some combination of both. But if it makes you feel any better, I still record, collect and play cassette tapes!
