Is that the point? For many yes. For a great many others, no.
Being able to focus on the 'now' is an increasingly rare skill. Modern culture doesn't support this faculty, as our nonsensical economy requires perpetual dissatisfaction. Heck, even my bicycle lights require firmware updates. But for my purposes, all of this development is tangential to music and performance - even as I pursue audiophile practices. Music (performance and enjoyment) requires a learned and tremendous skill in and capability of focusing on the 'now'. It couldn't be any other way.
I believe my affliction is moderate, however, and I'm not an enemy of innovation or step-change evolution. I guess I would rather spend the balance of my short time on Earth enjoying the music, given a choice.
