It's tucked away behind furniture so mechanical noise isn't a problem.
Mechanical noise is not what I want to avoid. My desktop with SSD and 2.5" spinning rust drive is essentially silent, too.
There might be lower cost alternatives than uRendu such as the Raspberry Pi.
I use a carefully tuned one with an Allo DigiOne board running piCorePlayer in the garage. While it doesn't fully match the sound quality of the uRendu, it does offer an incredible value for the money. I now use the BNC digital output and sometimes a small linear in place of the battery supply.
