Try a different CD burner. It sounds to me like you either have a problem with your CD burner or else your CD player doesn't like your CD-Rs. You might also try a different brand of CD-R to see if that corrects the problem. Some of the older CD players had problems reading CD-Rs.

Another option would be to use your computer to stream digital to your DAC. You can rip all your CDs and CD-Rs to your computer hard drive using freeware like Exact Audio Copy (EAC) and remove your CD player from the system. That's what I did and I like streaming my digital from a hard drive to my DAC much better than playing individual CDs and CD-Rs.
