RE: I changed the cable modem

I ended up buying a Netgear C3000 modem/router for about $91, plus tax, and dropping the TWC phone service. My new agreement retains a 50 Mbps speed, the second tier of channels for this area- most of which I don't bother watching, the HD DVR box, and a small converter for the bedroom TV. The cost is supposed to be just under $100/mo, still a bit pricey but other than going to a dish service, there is no other competition.

We just got our 3G cell phones from CREDO but since we were never glued to the land line, we should be able to eventually adjust over time.

Getting the modem end of the new box functioning wasn't as excruciating as I expected but I must be missing something on the setup of the router function. There's supposed to be a simplified installation wizard but I must have missed it. No CD-ROM came with the unit so I guess I'll be at the mercy of the call in tech support staff and the volume of calls they're facing when I make my plea for help.
