Like many of you, I find myself listening to more music in my car these days. Sure, I generally "approve" of the sound I get from the better than average stock car stereo in my BMW 535. 95%+ of the music comes from my iPod which only has full rez music on it ripped from CDs. I am always looking for cost effective ways to produce incrementally better sound. So, I am on a search.
PRODUCT SEARCH QUESTION: does this product exist...?...: An outboard, after-market DAC that bypasses Apple DAC, takes direct digital data and uses its own DAC to do conversion and then sends it via USB cable to my car stereo?
1. It would use an Apple connector on one end that would join the iPod to the DAC.
2. It would be powered by either batteries or by the USB cable in the car
3. It would then output to a USB cable that connects into the USB slot in my car.
Yes, I know that this product exists for headphones and for entry level products like Pure i20.
Have any of you seen or heard of such a product for car audio?
thanks,
Ian
