Yes, a good DAC will be a lot better than the Sbox analog outs with custom power supply. I'll just emphasize that the digital I/C and power cord each made a big difference also. Even the choice of 6922 tubes in my DAC are important.
I haven't tried Apple lossless or FLAC file formats yet, but will probably do so in near future. My suspicion is there is still a lot of improvement to wring out of my setup.
