. . . the sound qualities I prefer in a player. If you haven't already, try Audio Note CD players. CD1.1x, CD2.1xII, CD3.1xII, CD4.1x, & older players too. Display bright/dim/off, though no A/V options, but UK product so should be easy to demo.

Of the newer players I've only heard the CD1.1x and the CD2.1xII (which is a CD1.1x with higher grade parts). I liked some of what each player did but chose the CD1.1x as I'd have to change out some parts on the CD2.1xII anyway.

You may not like them, but if you haven't heard any yet, you really should eliminate AN before moving on to something else.
