As an electrical engineer (RF), I'd rather not get into drawn out "Battle of the Pedantic" and simply thank you for your post, as I come here for fun.

The impulse response of the filter has been set up in order to remove the typical pre-ringing response, and place it after the main part of the transient. That is all that is being done, and in essence that is what you said as well. No issue.

As far as HF rolloff - I was referring to the Ayre filter - and I should have clarified.

I have no beef with you - and have no desire to get into a deep discussion of DSP techniques, filtering and so on in a forum I come to for fun. I save that for work. I was simply attempting to say I think the effect of all of this new style of filtering has some serious sonic benefits.
