Thanks, I did some research over on the Head FI forum per my conversation Phill Tubes. It appears that both DACs are produced by the same folks with the Val lab DAC leading in upgrades. below are some of the upgrades I've seen so far:

1. First stage filtering capacitors: Three Rubycon XYF 1000u/35v Long Life/Low impedance 105 degree C tolerance

2. Decoupling capacitors for digital circuit chips: Eight Rubycon XYF 25uf/25v Long Life/Low impedance 105 degree C tolerance

3. Decoupling capacitors for TDA1543 chips: Eight NEC TOKIN 10uf/25v SMD type capacitors, one for each tda1543 chip

4. Adjustive capacitors for voltage regulator: Two Rubycon XYF 25uf/25v Long Life/Low impedance 105 degree C tolerance

5. Analog output output capacitor: Two metal can Tantanium 10uf/16v

6. Digital input coupling capacitor : Two metal can oil filled 0.01uf/200v

DACs ship out after 11-25-2008 will use capacitors listed above.

I should recieve my Moon DAC early this week. I wish I had done this research before I purchased..duh. I'll wait and see if the Moon DAC has any of the above upgrades. If I don't like the sound I'll implement the above upgrades myself..thanks again..
