Re: Marantz CD-67SE Mods

The cost depends on what kind of mods you plan on doing. Simply a parts upgrade can cost as little as a few dollars, if you get more complex you can spend much more. Try some simple mods first, I found the following to make a nice imporvement for little money.
1. PSU upgrades
-replace 470uf psu caps with 1000uf bypassed with small film cap
-replace diodes with Schottkys
-replace caps after voltage regulators with larger and better quality caps bypass with film cap
-if you want to go the next step upgrade the dac and analog stage regulators with super regs.

2. DAC+Analog section
-upgrade opamp with better quality BB2604 or similar
-u basically want to replace all the cheap stock electrolytic caps with better quality ones and bypass with film cap
-if you have the money get an upgrade clock like the Qwak clock, Audiocom super clock...etc

3. Mechanical
-Add some damping to the transport and the top case, blu tack works well
-Add you favorite cones or feet to replace the useless stock ones
- Build yourself a DIY sandbox or air bladder shelf for the cd player

These are just some ideas, there are a ton of articles onnnline about upgrading these players. Check TNT audio they have a step by step cd63/67 upgrade article, also search the asylum theres plenty of posts about this subject. The CD67se is a great player for the money in stock form, with a few well placed upgrades you can realy make it great for not much money. There are plenty of these players on the used market for under $200, even if you spent another $100 on mods u still have a very inexpensive and good sounding player. Im actually looking to buy one right now, i owned one a few years ago and it was taken when my home was burglarized:( Good luck
