I like the sound of the Marantz HT receivers for
2 channel listening at the under $1K price range.
Also take a look at the Panasonic Digital HT
receivers. For the money they are hard to beat.
Most of the decent brands(including the ones you
listed) do HT just fine, its finding one you can
enjoy 2 channel with that seems to be the chore,
well for me it was...Bill
