Anybody using still using a Sony DVP-S7000 as a transport?

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I picked one up last week on ebay for cheap. So far it's OK sounding, but I'd like to improve it a bit with some mods. The captive AC power cord will be the first to go.
Just wondering if this can still be a competitive transport.
