The ACK 1.3's sound can be a healing tonic in a highly reveiling system to help give lower noise floor, more relaxed presentation, etc. It won't wow you with a dramatic change if you system isn't resolving enough.Yes, your vintage receiver is probably the weak link. I would bet your Totem speakers would play much better as well with an amp with greater resolution.
The ACK is probably not the step to take in your sytem for improved playback. I'd get a much better amp first. Your Totems might wow you with a better amp.
